WITH Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) IN GREECE
Nicolas / 2019 / watercolor on paper / 45.5 x 30.5 cm
On invitation from Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Carole visited MSF-projects in Athens and on the island of Chios to sketch portraits of refugees, migrants and MSF staff + listen to their stories. In a time when a lot of rhetoric around refugees is dehumanizing, she asked three questions:
- What does it mean to be human?
- What are you passionate about?
- What memory of last year makes you smile?
Her art breaks down invisible barriers between "us" (inhabitants of Europe) and "them" (people on the move). We are all human!
The portraits were on display at Fumetto Comic Festival Lucerne (CH), at the Paléo in Nyon (CH) and Lucca Comic & Games (IT).
