The unexpected and surprises are part of everyday life in Cairo. After her evening arrival, Carole discovered that her luggage had not made the trip. Since she also had to check in her hand luggage, she was left with only her passport, wallet, phone with charging cable, and laptop – unfortunately, without the charging cable. The next morning began with a search for a toothbrush. She searched for her luggage several times at the airport, as she had been informed that it had arrived in Cairo with a delay. However, as it remained missing along with her art supplies, and a series of bizarre events unfolded in daily life in Egypt, she quickly bought pencils, brushes, paper, and watercolor paints, and began documenting everything through sketches. This marked the birth of the self-ironic comic Caro in Cairo, which depicts episodes from situations that, from a Swiss perspective, appear confusing and absurd.
