Immersing and diving: The artist residency awarded by the city of Frauenfeld and provided by the Städtekonferenz Kultur (SKK), from August 2022 to January 2023, offered an opportunity for artistic immersion into a multifaceted culture. A broadening of horizons in the double sense: on the one hand, gaining deeper insights into the world, and on the other, getting to know oneself better through new situations and challenges that require adaptation. As a contrast to the chaotic everyday life of Cairo, Carole retreated to the studio on the Nil Island of Qursaya, an agriculturally used and car-free island. A small ferry takes people across the Nile to this hidden gem – an ideal retreat to dive into creativity and process the overwhelming impressions through images.
